The Soundtrack
As anyone who has used YouTube knows, finding good music that doesn’t create copyright issues can be tough.
I recently put up an ad looking for local bands to contribute music to my videos. While I received quite a few responses, a couple of bands were especially helpful.
As a word of thanks, I thought I’d add a page so that the readers can check them out, download the music, get the CD’s, and all that good stuff.
Detox Junky
Downloads and CD’s Merch Follow
The best way I can describe these guys is a modern day rap mashup. Plenty of hardcore elements and beats mixed with some trippy rock grooves and intros with pieces that border on dubstep. Their sound has the deep bass hits found in old school Southern rap like Scarface and the Geto Boys.
From my understanding, Detox Junky is a music “project” based in Seattle, but featuring artists from around the world, which explains the unique sound.
Detox Junky’s music definitely grooves from beginning to end.
Regional Faction
Regional Faction is a Seattle punk band with a great old school SoCal skate punk sound in the vein of Pennywise (whom I am a huge fan of) and Bad Religion. Check out the website. The band has asked me to hold off from using their music until their new album drops….which is any day now.
Stay tuned!
The Ibex
Hailing from the great up north (Mt. Vernon, WA), The Ibex is a heavy rock duo of Cody Cox – Bass/Vocals, Tony Miller – Drums. Their sound is definitely reminiscent of darker, heavy classic stuff like old Sabbath, however, they do mix it up with some of Cody’s funky bass grooves as can be heard on tracks such as “Hold Me Down.” The sound is definitely a little different than the norm due to lack of guitars, but that’s what makes it so cool. The Ibex never sounds like they’re missing anything. You don’t listen to it and think “man, a guitar riff would be great right there.” Nope. The Ibex covers all the bases with just bass and drums and Cody’s vocals.
Good stuff. Stay tuned for the upcoming demo!
